When I first learned of classical education and how it "cultivates wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty," I knew this was a movement in which I wanted to be a part. Students of this kind of education are nourished not only by the truth of God's Word, but by endearing stories from great literature. They also learn the history of mankind and understand that it is God who works in the hearts and minds of all men to accomplish His purpose. Students of classical education also benefit from studying the beauty of art and music that God has gifted mankind to paint and compose throughout the centuries.
It has been a joy to teach these 9- and 10-year old students all the wonderful things our curriculum offers. The history curriculum is very interesting and exciting because we learn how God used men to strengthen the doctrines of our faith during the Reformation. The class size is small, so I can customize the pace and curriculum so each child benefits at his or her own pace. I am thankful that I have been given an opportunity to make a difference in these children's lives.
