It is the desire of the Heritage Oak School Board to keep tuition as affordable as possible and that no child should miss out on the opportunity for a Christian education due to various financial situations that might arise within families. We encourage you not to let finances impede upon a relationship with Heritage Oak that the Lord may be directing. We are confident that the Lord will provide a way for us to partner together with those He is calling to our school. It should be noted, however, that private education in a Christian environment will always require commitment and sacrifice on the part of the parent. Therefore, parents applying for tuition scholarships should be prepared to work additional hours at the school in order to help alleviate the financial strain on the school budget.
Heritage Oak School uses an outside private company, FAST (Financial Aid for Student Tuition) to determine the financial needs of the family. Families must re‐apply each year for financial aid.
Application for Financial Aid Procedure:
- Meet the FAST criteria for financial aid listed below.
- Fill out the FAST application and return to it to them with all requested information, supporting documentation, and a processing fee of $20. Applications must be postmarked by April 18 for returning families (new families should submit FAST documents prior to turning in new admission paperwork). Please do not leave any sections of the application blank, as it will slow down the qualifying process.
- Please fill out a HOS Tuition Assistance Questionnaire at the time of re‐enrollment and return it to the school office by April 18 (new families should submit this form with enrollment forms when applying).
Who should apply for aid?
FAST has found that a family’s income is the best indicator of need. Therefore, the general rule of thumb is as follows:
Income is under $42,000 – If your family’s adjusted gross income is under $42,000, you will probably qualify for aid.
Income is over $42,000 – If your adjusted gross income is over $42,000, then your tuition must be at least 10% of your income before you would qualify for aid: i.e. and income of $60,000 would require a total family tuition of $6,000 or more to qualify for aid. Aid could be as low as 3% of full tuition or as high as 50% of more, depending upon FAST assessment of need and the school’s maximum aid limit.
Income exception – In addition to the FAST forms, Heritage Oak School requires an additional questionnaire that helps fill in the gaps to complete the financial assessment. This gives families an opportunity to provide the school with information that may not be reflected on the FAST paperwork, but would assist the school in making a proper determination for financial need. Therefore, we encourage families that are not sure if they qualify to complete all the paperwork and arrange to meet with the committee to determine true eligibility.
