About Pastor Whitney:
Brent Whitney is Pastor of Childrens Ministry at Country Oaks Baptist Church. He taught math in the public school system for 7 years and is in his 3rd year at HOS. Pastor Brent has a BS in Psychobiology from UCLA. He has a California teaching credential (Secondary-Mathematics) and National University M.Div The Master’s Seminary. His hobbies include: Golf, Reading, Scrabble, Gardening and anything to do with his family. When asked why he likes teaching at a Christian School he replied: “I have the freedom to demonstrate to my students that all learning only makes sense when you start with the view that God is the ultimate. Without Him, there is no cohesiveness to the universe. He is the one objective reality from which all the particulars have their meaning. Attempting to teach anything apart from God as your starting point leads to frustration and absurdity. Furthermore, without God, I have no objective standard of morality to teach my students. And without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I have no hope to offer my students. Learning becomes the vanity of vanities without God.My favorite verse is Romans 6:23 - ”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life inChrist Jesus our Lord.”
