Anthony Ursua

Facilities Director

I was born and raised here in Tehachapi, CA.  I was raised up in the Catholic Faith where I participated in Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation all by the age of 17.  At age 17, I realized that I needed to make all these decisions on my own. I asked Christ in my life after graduating from Tehachapi High School, where I met my high school sweetheart, Sarah Donnel.

Sarah and I got married at age 20, and we started attending Country Oaks Baptist Church as a couple in 1996. Sarah had already been attending COBC since she was in Junior High. My wife and I have 3 children: AJ, Andrew and Keturah, who All attended Heritage Oak, with AJ attending K-12 and Graduating from HOS as well. We love Heritage Oak School and feel like it was a great foundation for our children’s education and most importantly their faith.  It prepared them well for college, and for being bold in their faith as adults.

I have been blessed to serve at COBC since 1997 and HOS since 1998. During this time, the Lord has allowed me to serve currently as a Deacon and serve on the Men’s ministry board for 15 years. I’ve worked in the construction field for over 27 years, so I was blessed to work and manage our volunteers on the building of the new sanctuary project in 1999.  I have led the Tech ministry for 25 years, and have the privilege of working on staff the last 4 years as the Director of Facilities. Serving as the Tech Director has allowed me to be involved with All HOS events that require Technical support, and also has been a huge blessing to see 24 HOS Graduations since the beginning of the School.

What I’ve learned over the years being at COBC and what I am reminded of by the great leadership and some of my best guy friends here at the church is found in my favorite verse, Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
